In creating C2H4‘s collaboration with mastermind JAPAN, creative director and founder Yixi Chen was not just executing a clothing collaboration. The concept was inclusive of an entirely fictional secret society that she and her team wanted to bring to life through a pop-up event in Shanghai. It was an important element of the project, considering Chen is motivated by seeing others react to her work, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G played a key role in turning her vision into something tangible. “Human connection is a big part of where I get my satisfaction,” says Chen. “It’s not only the things I create, but also how other people interact with what I make.”
